Bangladesh is set to join the global payment network Paypal next month
in a bid to explore world ICT market for local individuals and
companies.
With this most-widely used payment system on the Internet, Bangladeshi
freelancers and other individuals will be able to receive money from
abroad via Paypal.
With Paypal coming to Bangladesh, the
country's freelancers and other ITC companies will get more online work,
a freelancer said.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith recently
informed newsmen after a budget consultation meeting with the
Secretaries at the Planning Ministry conference room.
"Paypal payment gateway may launch its operation in Bangladesh by May," the Finance Minister said.
A group of officials of Paypal will visit Dhaka soon to look for technical details for the launching,
In
March, 2012 a team of Bangladesh Association of Software and
Information Services (BASIS) went to California, the headquarters of
Paypal, to request it to start its operations in the country.
