BANGLADESH to join Paypal to get ICT outsourcing payment

Bangladesh is set to join the global payment network Paypal next month in a bid to explore world ICT market for local individuals and companies.
With this most-widely used payment system on the Internet, Bangladeshi freelancers and other individuals will be able to receive money from abroad via Paypal.

With Paypal coming to Bangladesh, the country's freelancers and other ITC companies will get more online work, a freelancer said.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith recently informed newsmen after a budget consultation meeting with the Secretaries at the Planning Ministry conference room.

"Paypal payment gateway may launch its operation in Bangladesh by May," the Finance Minister said.

A group of officials of Paypal will visit Dhaka soon to look for technical details for the launching,

In March, 2012 a team of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) went to California, the headquarters of Paypal, to request it to start its operations in the country.

Fahim Mashroor, President of BASIS, said, "Bangladesh has attained considerable success in outsourcing. The country secured third place in popular online marketplace"
