KUAKATA- THE TRULY VIRGIN BEACH

Kuakata is one of the rarest places which has the unique beauty of offering the full view of the rising and setting of crimson sun in the water of the Bay of Bengal
in a calm environment. That makes Kuakata one of the world's unique beaches. Kuakata is a panaromic sea beach which located in the Patuakhali district, Kuakata has a wide sandy beach from where one can see both the sunrise and sunset.
It is about 320 Kilometres south of Dhaka, the capital of  Bangladesh. This beach is 30 km long and 6 km wide.

The name Kuakata originated from the word 'Kua'-the Bengali word for “Well” which was dug on the sea shore by the early Rakhine settlers for collecting drinking water, who landed on Kuakata coast in the eighteenth century after being expelled from Arakan (Myanmar) by the Mughals. After that,
it  becomes a tradition of digging Well of Rakhaine tribes.

Kuakata offers a full view of the sunrise and sunset from the same white sandy beac. Kuakata has a typical natural setting. This long and white sandy beach has gentle slopes . Kuakata is also famous for migratory winter birds. On the eastern end of the beach is Gongamati Reserved Forest which is an evergreen mangrove forest and snippet of the original Kuakata. Choosing to visit Gangamati in the late afternoon is a perfect time to watch the sun caste shadows. Kuakata is the place for both Hindu and Buddhist communities. Lots of devotees arrive here at the festival of 'Rush Purnima' and 'Maghi Purnima'. You may also visit the 100 years old Buddhist Temple where the statue of Goutama Buddha and two wells of 200 years old are located.

SEASON FOR TOURIST:

The main tourist season is in winter. But all over the year tourists visit this place. You can find lots of coconut trees those increase the scenic beauty of this seashore.

If you are adventurous you may also go for fishing on the fishing boat if you can manage the local fishermen which will give you pleasure and experience, which you won’t be able to gather from anywhere else of the world. In the fishermen village you can purchase some fresh Hilsha fish from them. By the side of village there are some local restaurants from where you can get the Hilshas for eating and will remember the wonderful taste of the fresh Hilshas of Kuakata for a long time.
Please don’t forget to visit Fatra’s Chor another tourist place nearby Kuakata. Kuakata is truly a virgin beach where you can see winter birds, a series of coconut trees, sandy beach of blue Bay. Boats plying in the Bay of Bengal with colourful sails, fishing, towering cliffs, surfing waves. 

HOW TO GO KUAKATA:

There exists road communication between Dhaka and Patuakhali. There is water or air transport up to Barisal. Then one may travel by road or water to Kuakata or Patuakhali. From Dhaka you can go to Patuakhali by bus & from there by microbus/car to Kuakata. It is advisable to go Patuakhali by launch which is an overnight journey and thus you can enjoy the unique beauty of Bangladesh Rivers at nighttime. Instead of Potuakhali you can go to Khepupara by launch which is also an overnight journey. After reaching Khepupara you can go to Kuakata by microbus.

Gongamotir Chor

Another attractive place for is Gongamotir Chor which is 10 km east of Kuakata. The most attractive place here is the "Gongamotir Lake". There are many trees like Keuya, Gauya, Saila etc many animals like wild pig, monkeys etc.

Lembur Chor

Five kilometer east of Kuakata beach,there is an attractive place known as Lembur Chor. There is a forest of  Keuya, Korai, Gauya, Saila etc of 1000 acor.

Rasmela

  Rasmela is a name of a famous festival that was started depending on collecting "ros" in winter. Later the festival name became "Rasmela" and it is one of the main religious programs of "Monipuri". At the time of "Rasmela" festival you can come here to enjoy it.

Shutki Polly is located 4 km west from Kuakata. Fishermen catch many kinds of sea fish from sea. From here, "Shutki Fish" is supplied in many places of Bangladesh.
