SONA MASJID(GOLDEN MOSQUE) - MONUMENT OF THE SULTANATE PERIOD

Have you ever been to north side of  BANGLADESH??? Many of us do not know about that place. One of the  best place for visiting and discovering north side of  Bangladesh. There are lot of places to visit in northside, specially in Rajshahi division. Rajshahi is one of the most popular for the tourist, those who come to see the historical places. Chapai-nowabgonj is one of the district of Rajshahi.. This place is famous for  lots of mango trees. Whenever you will go to Chapai, you can see all the way is full of
mango trees. There are different types of mango trees. You will get all type of mangoes of the world here. There are lots of places to see, but SONA MASJID is the best tourist place of CHAPAI.

  
KNOW ABOUT GOLDEN MOSQUE: 

SONA MASJID means GOLDEN MOSQUE. It is the one of the best monument
of the sultanate period. This whole area known as sona masjid. It is the second largest land port of Bangladesh. It was built during the time Sultan Aladdin hossen shah. It was built by Wali Mohammad. The built time was 1493 to 1519. It is roofed over with 15 gold gilded domes. It has 3 chaochola drooms in middle row. You will find lot of designs of flower, fruit and tress on roffed and outside the wall of the mosque. There is a special places for ladies to pray their prayer at north-west side. There is a mihrab also which is 82 feet long, 52 feet wide and 20 feet in hight.  The whole area of mosque is bounded by stone. All other designs of mosque was made on stone and marbel. According to local people, this mosque was richly decorated with gold paint in the tile decoration.




HOW TO GO THERE:


 Bus is the only means of communication. You have to take bus from Dhaka. Hanif, saudia, Sayyamoli, Nehar are the bus srevices that come to Sibgonj.. Some of them come to Kansat. Bus fair is about 300-350 taka. It will take 7 hours to go to kansat from Dhaka. From kansat you have to tkae local bus to go to Sona masjid. It will take about 1 hour by local bus to go to Sona masjid. If you dont want to go by bus, then you can take taxy. Taxy will take 25-30 mints. You have to pay 80-100 taka for that.


WHERE TO STAY:


   There is a motel of Bangladesh porjonton corporation in Sona Masjid. There are 2-3 hotels also there. But in kansat, you will get lots of good hotel there. Hotel fare  is very less here, within 300-400 taka you will get the best hotels.


    


   So, take your bag and have a visit  to Golden Mosque. Dont forget to visit Pagla river, one of the beautiful river of Bangladesh. You can see the border between Bangladesh and India also.
